After spending seven years working at Pierre Thibault Atelier, as an architect, Emilie co-founded her own firm with her partner Julien Villemure. Inconnu Studio is an authentic and accessible micro-firm of architecture based in Quebec city, where the notions of intimacy and poetry of space are at the heart of their approach.
“The idea with Inconnu studio is not to have a signature. Each project is the reflection of the people we work with and in symbiosis with the place: a universe specific to each project,” said Emilie who spent a week at the cabin working on her projects with ease in front of the ocean.
“ I loved the week I spent at The Parcelles. It's really a calming place, created by people I admire a lot. I like how the interventions carried out on the old fishing cabin have been thought out so as to be consistent with the site and, this, in a great simplicity. Every gesture made seems to be intended to promote our feeling of connection to the maritime landscape: the outdoor shower, the captain's chairs, the photos displayed on the wall, the terrace facing the water, the books on lifestyle near the ocean... All these elements contribute to creating a universe that is simply magical, anchored in the landscape and in the image of Catherine & Gabriel, that's exactly what I try to accomplish every time I design a project and that's what makes Parcelles such an inspiring place for the architect in me.”
